Blue sky skiing

Blue sky skiing at Silver Star, British Columbia, Canada

Skiing under blue skies when the temperature sits just below zero is what I consider a perfect skiing day.

They were the conditions at Silver Star ski resort in British Columbia Canada on Friday 22 January 2010.

While some resorts have been adversely affected by the warm weather (colloquially known as the Pineapple Express because warm weather comes up for Hawaii way), Silver Star has held its snow base and the snow has held firm but not icy.

The front slopes are the best at the moment as the Putnam Chair runs need more snow. Word on the mountain is that they are a bit slick.

More sun on the weekend, 23 and 24 January but snow expected early next week. But for now it’s on with the sunscreen and enjoy the sunshine while we can.
