The ski resort for Bariloche is Cerro Catedral which is a mere 20 minute drive away.

At 1030 meters over sea level, Cerro Catedral is considered one of the most modern ski resorts with advanced infrastructure including 40 lifts that can transport 35000 skiers and snowboarders an hour. There’s plenty of snow on the 53 runs over 600 hectares of above tree-line terrain.

The ski season runs from June to September. Catedral resort has some of the best snow conditions in South America averaging six metres each season. Natural snow is enhanced by snowmaking that covers an area of about 10 hectares.

Ski on the groomed runs and off-piste or try freestyle and snowboarding on the bumps and rails in the Snowboard Park which has a half pike.

Getting to Bariloche

People fly in from all over the world to Buenos Aires. From Buenos Aires to Bariloche, the best option is a connecting flight.

From Bariloche to the ski resort area

This is an easy drive and easy parking as Catedral has free parking for 960 vehicles. There is also a regular bus service that runs every 30 minutes between Bariloche and the resort. Return bus transfers are often included with accommodation package

Accommodation at Bariloche

Accommodation is in Bariloche itself and at the base of the mountain at Cerro Catedral.

Staying at Catedral

There are some accommodation options at the base of the mountain with 5, 4 and 3-star hotels, homes and apartments. A total of 2000 beds are available at the base of the Cerro Catedral.

Pire Hue is a ski in, ski out cosy three and a half star hotel with spa and ski storage.

Club Hotel Catedral is an exclusive resort hotel located in the Cerro Catedral ski area. It has three restaurants, spa, gym and kids playroom.

The Village Catedral apartments are located less than a kilometre from the lifts at the base of Cerro Catedral skiresort. The units have fantastic views of Cerro Catedral and can sleep 2, 5, 6 or 8 people.

More accommodation at San Carlos de Bariloche

Nahuel Huapi is a three-star hotel in downtown Bariloche. It has a restaurant that features the local cuisine.

The Panamericano Hotel is a five-star facility situated close to shops, dining and bars. It is 20 minutes from Cerro Catedral and 20 minutes from the International airport.

You can also find great apartments and homes in Bariloche.

Eating at Cerro Catedral

The only difficulty is working out what you want to eat. Choose from soups and tasty snacks, fondues and local dishes.

Here’s just a few options.

El Rodeo is known for its barbecues. Refugio Lynch offers spectacular views as you enjoy typical mountain dishes.

At Punta Nevada , Viento Cero and Parador Intermedia, you can enjoy traditional dishes such as goulash. El Cabo serves Mexican food. If you love a good pizza, El Barrilete is where you should head. .

Fast food venues include Q-White, La Roca, Soul Point and Plaza Oertle.

Cabaña 1600 does great coffee and provides Internet access free of charge.

Daily lift tickets are reasonably priced

People 12 to 64 pay $40 a day, children from 6 to 11 and those over 65 pay $27 a day.
