About Bjelašnica Ski Resort
Bjelasnica ski resort is only 20 minutes from Sarajevo in central Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is one of the highest mountains in the region and skiers can ski from its summit.
This Olympics mountain (scene of some of the 1984 Winter Olympics) above Sarajevo is a small but promising ski resort that is redeveloping its ski credentials.
Getting to Bjelasnica Ski Resort
Sarajevo has an international airlines and many of the world’s top airlines have flights to the city. These include Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, United, SAS and British Airways.
The road from Sarajevo to Bjelasnica is an easy drive but carrying snow chains is recommended as the roads are not salted in this area. A day parking lot is right next to the ski lifts.
The snow stats for Bjelasnica
There is good snow on the mountain for up to 200 days a year. The ski season starts on 15 December and goes through to 15 April. Average snow depth is 135 cm.
Snow facilities at Bjelasnica
This is a small ski resort especially compared to Jahorina, a nearby mountain resort. There is only one three seater chairlift and a double chair supplemented by T-bars and pomas. However, there is good diversity in the terrain for beginners, intermediate and advanced level skiers.
Bjelašnica has night skiing on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The length of the night ski run is 750 metres and of moderate steepness. Need ski gear, no problem. You can hire ski equipment at reasonable prices but be mindful that you won’t find the latest carved skis here.

Bjelašnica has two eating places, the recently built Benetton and Mountain House.
