Sun Peaks is a simply gorgeous ski mountain with champagne snow. It’s true! And it has lots of blue runs for intermediate skiers and generally, blue skies. It really is Sun Peaks!
The summit elevation at Sun Peaks mountain resort is 2,080 mtrs (6,824 ft). You will be treated to 15 square kilometres (3,678 acres) of skiable terrain at this resort that gets an average of 2000 hours of sun each season. That’s why it’s called Sun Peaks, of course.
And despite all this sunshine, Sun Peaks receives an average of 5.6 mtrs (220 in) of snow each year.
A very blue mountain in the skiable terrain as well, there are a total of 121 runs.
If you are into glade skiing, you’re in luck as there are 12 gladed areas. For cross country skiing, the 40km of cross country trails will keep you moving.
Travelling to Sun Peaks ski resort
The Sun Peaks mountain resort is about a one hour drive from Kamloops in British Columbia (55 kms) which is the nearest town with an airport. Fly into Kamloops via Vancouver and you’re almost there.
Accommodation at Sun Peaks ski resort
From the budget style Sun Peaks International Hostel to Nancy Greene’s Cahilty Lodge and Pinnacle Lodge in the village to more accommodation at Burfield Heights, there is plenty of choice about where to stay on the mountain.
Eating at Sun Peaks
Eateries are aplenty. There are bakeries, cafes, casual restaurants and more formal eateries for that special occasion.
Try Bento’s Day Lodge next to the Sunburst Chair for a wholesome breakfast to get you going for the day.
Bottom’s Bar and Grill is always packed at lunch time as skiers and snowboarders make the most of Canadian beer and good old fashion pub food.
Mantles at the Delta Sun Peaks Resort serves Pacific Northwest Cuisine with a regional BC flair. Patrons can relax the warm comfort of this restaurant whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
